The son of a Navy Corpsman, Spencer spent 13 years in Northern California where he finished school and worked as an Iron worker and Fieldman for PG&E. After a motorcycle accident, he began a 10-year career as a tattoo artist, eventually bringing him back home to Southern California where he owned and operated a shop in Escondido, CA.
